To install a front strut on a 2016 Honda Civic, you'll jack up the car, remove the wheel, then disconnect the brake line, ABS sensor, sway bar link, and the two lower bolts connecting the strut to the steering knuckle, followed by the three upper strut nuts in the engine bay. Use a jack to support the control arm as you remove the last bolts and carefully maneuver the old strut out, then reverse the process with the new strut, ensuring you tighten everything properly and get an alignment afterward. It is highly recommended to use a complete "quick-strut" assembly (which includes the spring) to avoid the dangers of using a spring compressor. Tools Required Sockets/Wrenches: 12mm (brake line), 14mm (sway bar/top mount), 17mm, and 19mm (strut-to-knuckle). Torque Wrench: For final tightening (strut-to-knuckle bolts typically require ~67 ft-lbs). Install the new left front damper assembly. NOTE: Do not fully tighten the bolts and nuts at this time. • Install the upper part of damper into the tower, and loosely secure it with the three new flange nuts. • Install the lower ball joint with knuckle. • Install the lower part of the damper into the knuckle, and loosely secure it with the damper pinch bolt. • Install the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal, and connect the adaptive damper connector and wheel speed sensor connector Load the suspension with the vehicle weight and torque properly. 3 DAMPER FLANGE NUTS - Torque to 55 lb-ft (75 N·m) STABILIZER FLANGE NUT - Torque to 47 lb-ft (64 N·m) SUSPENSION PINCH BOLT - Torque to 58 lb-ft (79 N·m) 3 LOWER CONTROL ARM BOLTS - Torque to 47 lb-ft (64 N·m) 10th generations Civic which covers model years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 two and four doors coupe and hatchback regardless of whether 1.5L Turbo or 2.0L engine.
