Please note that the remove and install procedure should be similar to many other Honda and Acura vehicles such as Insight, Accord, Fit, Clarity, Pilot, RDX and other similar years. Step-by-Step Removal Jack up the front of the vehicle and secure it on jack stands. Remove the wheel. Disconnect Lower Components: Locate and remove the 12mm bolt securing the brake hose bracket to the strut and set the hose aside to prevent tension or kinking. Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring harness clips from the strut and set the sensor aside. Disconnect the sway bar end link from the strut. This typically involves using a 14mm socket on the nut and potentially a 5mm Allen key to prevent the stud from spinning. Remove the 19mm bolt that connect the bottom of the strut to the steering knuckle using a socket and breaker bar. You may also need to the three 17mm bolts holding the ball joints and separate the lower control arm. Separate Strut from Knuckle: Use a hammer to dislodge the steering knuckle from the strut. A specialized Honda strut spreader tool can also be inserted into the knuckle pinch joint to safely widen it and release the strut. You may need to push the CV axle inward slightly or pry down on the lower control arm to get enough clearance for the knuckle to come off the strut. Remove Top Bolts: Open the hood and locate the strut tower, usually covered by a cowl panel or plastic covers that need to be removed. Loosen and remove the three nuts (typically 14mm) that hold the top of the strut mount to the car body. Have a partner support the strut assembly from the wheel well, or support it yourself, as you remove the final nut to prevent it from falling. Carefully guide the entire strut assembly down and out of the wheel well. 10th generations Civic which covers model years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 two and four doors coupe and hatchback regardless of whether 1.5L Turbo or 2.0L engine.
