Brake fluid, Vacuum extractor or pressure bleeder, Wrench set, Brake bleeding kit, Container for fluid disposal
Without a pressure or vacuum bleeder, you can exchange the fluid and bleed the brakes with fluid and your foot. A pressure or vacuum bleeder makes the job easier and doable with just one person. While a pressure bleeder kit can be expensive, it has the advantage of keeping the reservoir full while fluid is extracted. This video demonstrates a brake fluid flush using a vacuum extractor (because that's what I had on hand). Using vacuum works well if you can keep the seal while doing the service, which doesn't always happen. For that reason, you'll see the process for bleeding the brakes near the end of this video to remove the air from the system. This video showcases a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500, but the process is the same for any 2019-2025 GMC Yukon, Escalade, Chevy Silverado, Tahoe, or Suburban. Interval - GM recommends inspecting the brake fluid at 45,000 miles. Brake fluid absorbs moisture which effects compressibility and boil-off temps. Moisture in the system also causing corrosion and part failure.
