We discuss the necessary steps and procedures on how to drain Toyota Tacoma transfer case oil, how to fill Toyota Tacoma transfer case with new fluid, the proper Tacoma transfer case fluid capacity, and the drain and fill plug torque specifications.
In this DIY tutorial, we demonstrate the process on a 3rd generation 2022 Toyota Tacoma using transfer case fluid equivalent to Toyota Transfer Gear Oil LF 75W and part numbers 08885-01806 and 08885-81080. However, the steps apply to all 2009-2023 Toyota Tacoma models. The only difference is that with the 2nd generation 2009-2015 models, the recommended transfer case fluid is 75W-90 instead of 75W.
