2007-2013 Silverado: Transmission Fluid and Filter Change

Replacing the transmission fluid, filter, and pan gasket on a 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 6L80 transmission. Removing the transmission oil pan is complicated by the exhaust cross tube. The procedure calls for dropping the catalytic converter y-pipe. The likely corroded exhaust bolts have limited access and are further impeded by the oxygen sensors. For this reason, I replaced the filter and pan gasket without fully dropping the pan. It worked well for me, and may save you some headache as well. Giving your dealer the VIN will ensure you get the right filter and pan gasket the first time.
