I got a new delivery and it is a dead Dell XPS 15 laptop that won't power on. I know these laptops well. What I check first when we have a no-power issue is to plug-in a known good charger and check for a current draw. Then I'll also install a new DC jack and Try a charged battery. Then Lastly I will check the voltage on the CMOS battery and do a CMOS reset. If none of these things word, this means the Dell motherboard is bad and will need to be replaced. I will remove the board, get it under the microscope and thermal camera, and see if I find the problem. Well, a cracked capacitor was the problem but there was also some of spill on it. I replaced all of these components and the Dell laptop is fixed.
