Mechanic Tip: Oil Change Myth to Pre Fill Oil Filter

Pre filling the oil filter is not necessary for modern vehicles, and many manufacturers are warning against it due to the potential contamination you're introducing into your engine thru the unfiltered oil. Unless your factory service manual recormmends pre-filling the filter, DON'T DO IT. If you don't believe me, think about all the top-down facing filters and side mount filters that are impossible to pre-fill with oil.
