Do It Yourself Brake Change for Tacoma - OEM Brake Pad Kit Installation, Change & Maintenance

📍 *75Built - San Diego, CA* ▶▶ Hello Overland friends & family! 75Built here with another product installation for you! This is a Do-It-Yourself Brake Change Video with our *Disc Brake Pad Kit for the 3rd Gen Tacoma.* Direct from Toyota, these brake pads are a perfect fit because they are Original Equipment Manufactured (OEM). They come with the recommended packet of lubrication to apply to the existing brake shims. The vehicle we are performing the brake change on today is this 2017 Tacoma. It’s actually getting its brakes changed for the very first time. Notice the original stock brakes are so ground down there is almost nothing left...about a 1/16" before they are totally gone. We do not recommend letting your brake pads get this low. Comparing the old to new, it’s clear we should’ve replaced them a year or two ago. Overall it is a very easy installation. All you need is a jack and 2 jack stands, a tire iron, screwdrivers and pliers. Once the tire is off you get full access to the rotor and calipers, where you simply pop off pins and holding clips in order to get to the brake pads. The power brake system presses in on the brake pads and with the amount these were worn down, we had to gently press in on the pistons to make room to work. Then on the back of the brake pads, lubricate the shim assembly and reinstall with the clips and pins.
