NoWARNING: Never open the radiator cap when the engine is hot or even warm. It is pressurized and can cause serious injury. This is on a Honda, that does not have any seperate bleeder screw.
This video shows you how to purge air out of your engine cooling system. It is critical to get all the air out of the cooling system. If not, your engine could overheat. You may not get warm air in the cabin. The radiator cabin is designed to be the highest point of the system & air travels to the highest point.
The video is only about bleeding air after your have filled coolant back into the system and the coolant reservoir tank. If your pressurized cap is not on the radiator, it will be on a plastic expansion tank. These tanks must be filled to the max indicated level when cold.
The air bleed process is Honda’s recommended way to bleed air. It does not require to squeeze the radiator hose. This process can be used for many other models/manufacturers too. Some models have a separate air bleed valve. Some require you to turn on the the cabin air blower (at minimum speed).
You can speed up the process by pressing the accelerator a bit, up to 2500-3000 rpm. You can also keep the radiator cap off and observe air bubbles escaping. By allowing the radiator fans to turn on we ensure that the thermostat is fully opened and the coolant is circulating.
The radiator/pressurized cap will always be the highest point of the engine cooling system. You could also jack up the front end to help air bubbles escape for effectively/quickly.
Go for a test drive after. After a day or two check your coolant reservoir or expansion tank level, when cold only, and top it up to the max level if needed.
