Can you clean your own air ducts, I wandered after seeing a shocking sight in the ductwork. The answer turned out to be yes, and I show how I did it the first time in this segment of my DIY Air Duct Cleaning Tools series. The air quality in the house improved significantly after this cleaning. There was a lot of dust, debris, and a little mold to be removed. I made an air whip (which I improve upon during part 2) to sweep up the mess and a do-it-yourself negative air machine/duct vacuum to suck the dust and most of the debris out. The original duct vacuum I used in this video is too weak to pull out the heaviest debris, but it was strong enough to pull all the debris to a duct opening where I could then vacuum out what remained with a shop vac. I make a much more powerful negative air machine in part 3 of the series. Some more aggressive cleaning tools are made and tested in parts 5, 6, and 7. The parts for the air whip and leaf blower powered duct vacuum are listed below. I receive a commission from some of the links in the description.
