For the price, you may as well use the kit. They have everything you need and work pretty well. Some kits come in adjustable sizes, mine was made for the size of my door.Since I reused the door, I had to install a retrofit pocket door handle. This door has a lock on it that was installed backwards. I have a young child that we want to keep out of there, so this worked out well.
